Fort Worth Zoo
The Fort Worth Zoo offers more than animal exhibits. Check out the Museum of Living Art, a facility with hand painted murals and reptiles, birds, and frogs living among them. There’s a model Wild West village with a hands on petting zoo, as well.
Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
Are you looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city? Taking a trip out to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden will surely put your mind at peace. This green space also boasts the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden that is fun and educational for children.
Dallas World Aquarium
The Dallas World Aquarium hosts so many different animals, it’s mind boggling! Come here to observe stingrays, penguins, octopi, flamingos, sharks, manatees and monkeys. Children under two get free admission, and it’s within walking distance of many downtown destinations.
Klyde Warren Park
This is a completely free destination for leisure that spans over five acres, and it’s easy to spend a couple of hours here. With free Wi-Fi in the park and weekly events at the performance pavilion, you’ll want to put this one on your list. There are often food trucks parked here, as well.
Fort Worth Stockyards
This is one of the areas biggest attractions, and that’s because it always offers a fun experience. There is a ton of shopping in an old western theme, entertainment in the form of live roundups, rodeos, and live music, as well as opportunities to learn more about this historic stockyard.
Sundance Square has it all. Shopping, entertainment, and an outdoor pavilion area that hosts musical, yoga, and other community events. The events are always changing, so be sure to check the schedule before planning a trip out here.
Log Cabin Village
History buffs have a lot of options for an exciting day trip in the area. The Log Cabin Village in Fort Worth has buildings from the 1800’s such as schoolhouses, homes, and blacksmith shops. You feel as though you’ve taken a time machine right back in history!
National Cowgirl Museum
This is a great selection if you’re looking for an activity that the family can enjoy, particularly if you have daughters. The Wild West is strong here, and they are sure to feel inspired after becoming educated about many different women pioneers.
Annual events and celebrations
One of the best ways to enjoy the community is to attend one of the local festivals or parades. No matter the season, there’s an event to put on the calendar. Some of the more popular events include the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, Earth Party, Mayfest, Old Fashioned Fourth of July, and the Taste of Dallas Festival. The diverse selection ensures entertainment for all.
