“How does she do it?”
“How do you do it?”
It’s a question that gets asked of moms everywhere, and I have a feeling that it gets asked of single moms even more so. I, myself, was asked more than once this past weekend. And I heard it echo in several of the questions in the moms forums. Of course, I started to give my typical, almost flippant, answer of “You just make it work.” but in reality it is more than that.
It’s more than just “making it work”, if you want to thrive rather than simply survive.
It’s more than establishing schedules, crafting regular routines, creating your village and ensuring one-on-one time with your kid.
It’s not competing, choking on mom guilt or over-compensating for something that you think they might be missing.
It is also more than acting like an adult, growing up and learning how to co-parent like a boss.
It starts in your mind.
It starts in living in the right now.
It’s not in what happened yesterday, not wallowing in who said what or running along and jumping into somewhere down-the-road-ville.
It begins with being thankful….grateful for the road that led you here and thankful for the adventure up ahead.
It starts with being glad for the right now, knowing your value and taking your lead from there.
Have a great week!
