Green is the new feel-good black, and Hyundai Motor North America continues the wildfire reforestation effort by planting 110,000 trees in California. Southern California is the North American home of Hyundai Motor Group, and it’s only fitting to do good where you do business. Expanding on the 2022 partnership with One Tree Planted, this year’s contribution brings the total to 750,000 trees planted across the region.

The program is designed to assist with wildfire reforestation and alleviate the impact of human development on the natural ecosystem here and in South Korea. The vibrant program seems simple on the surface. Like ripples in a pond, it dominoes into the lives and communities touched by the very breath we breathe. The feel-good program is not only necessary, but is also in direct alignment with Hyundai’s audacious goal of Progress for Humanity.

If someone asks me what is the motivating force for Hyundai, I would have a ready answer: a desire for better.— CHUNG JU-YUNG, FOUNDING CHAIRMAN OF HYUNDAI MOTOR GROUP

This year’s new contribution brings the total number of trees planted throughout the region to 750,000 since the partnership with One Tree Planted began in 2022. “Fostering a sustainable planet for future generations is core to Hyundai’s progress for humanity vision,” said Claudia Márquez, COO, Hyundai Motor America. “We are proud of our partnership and this milestone with One Tree Planted to advance our common goal of a cleaner tomorrow, particularly in support of California reforestation this year and home to our North American headquarters.”

In honor of the continuing partnership, we joined Hyundai employees in a volunteer planting experience with One Tree Planted in Huntington Beach, California. During the event, we planted, watered and tended over 120 coastal native plants in Bolsa Chica Preserve.

“We are deeply grateful for Hyundai’s continued and generous support of One Tree Planted,” said Hank Lynch, president and CEO, One Tree Planted. “Thanks to their commitment, trees have been planted, biodiversity is flourishing, and communities have been empowered. On behalf of all the team and our planting partners at One Tree Planted, thank you.”

The collaboration between Hyundai and One Tree Planted supports its overarching efforts in the realm of biodiversity and most pointedly the ‘IONIQ Forest’ project in South Korea. The long -standing project is in honor of the launch of Hyundai’s new, all-electric IONIQ series. This eco-friendly initiative ‘aims to plant trees for reforestation, preserving biodiversity, and combating climate change.’
