The Daily Message: Prioritizing with your heart
Do you hide from pain and conflict? I think we all experience pain and conflict in life but many of us don’t know how to deal with it? Many single mothers don’t know how to deal with pain and conflict and instead we hide from it. We also may lash out emotionally to the ones we love and once those words are out they can’t be taken back. My friend calls this spiraling and sometimes it goes out of control. One of the things that he is especially adept at is recognizing when there is a situation and then calmly assessing that situation to gather resources and a support system to deal with it.
I think where people go astray is when they prioritize based on logic instead of the heart. This is the key to clearly defining your life goals since all your actions then become governed by these principles. With a heart based approach the solutions to your problems become more consistent. With a logical based approach, the outcomes keep shifting and this in turn shifts your priorities. One of the things I have learned is that when you use a logical based approach the lessons are hard and they are tough. Here are a few examples of setting priorities from the heart (these are mine):
1. Helping women overcome their setbacks
2. Feeling connected with people – relationships, family and children
3. Being kind to others
4. Doing the right thing to serve the greater good
5. Creating a stable and routine life
If you tried to create priorities based on logic than it would look like my current list:
1. Make more money
2. Travel more
3. Get more educated
4. Write a novel
5. Open an event planning business
However, what have I been doing in the real world to make these goals a reality. I have been spending way too much time on social media and the blog to begin creating my work. I’ve been consumed with escape and going out to eat instead of staying at home and organizing the home. I’ve been planning vacations with no real clue how I’m going to pay for it. These real world actions do not coincide with my goals and so I need to make a new list of prioritizing from the heart. The key is to being getting connected with myself so that I can begin the process of prioritizing from the heart.
So what are the heart based priorities in your life?
