Just another trip to Walmart when we park in our driveway. As soon as we enter the domain of our property line I flipped the switch on the overhead console and the Toyota Sienna‘s backdoor flip opens with that cushion of air swoosh sound that the hydraulics make with a soft, slow sssssssssssssssss sound. Baby B looks back from her car seat and then from the Toyota’s rear view mirror I can see her look back at me with the widest eyes ever and says, “Mommy how did that happen?”
I smiled for a bit but considering I had just seen and fell asleep watching the third Transformers that weekend I couldn’t resist the urge to make a Transformers reference. I turned around slowly with a finger to my lips and slowly whispered “shhhhhh! Honey, our van is really an autobot sent from outerspace to protect the planet from alien robots.” Without cracking a smile my little girl looked in utter shock but we kept very quiet so as not to disturb the Sienna before it turned into a robt.
The Toyota Sienna
My three month adventure in the Sienna has been one with many memories. My first date with Bradford was in this Sienna and many roadtrips to San Antonio and Houston were done over the course of this three month adventure in the Toyota Sienna. So let’s take a look at exactly what we did throughout the course of our Sienna adventure.
Here’s the first video mount I did with my phone in the Toyota Sienna at SeaWorld San Antonio
So what can you expect when you drive away in a Toyota Sienna? First of all the inside gadgets provide all the comfort needed for extended roadtrips. Whether you are taking ten hours to get to El Paso or spending three hours in Houston traffic having bluetooth connectivity and an amazing Dual-View Entertainment Center made it enjoyable for the kids. We watched Frozen 100 times and I got to connect my metal music. The 16.4 inch widescreen made it even better for the kids in the back. The only drawback was being in a vehicle sometimes the DVD skipped. That’s to be expected and I’m sure Blu Ray will be coming out soon in vehicles. I had to forego playing many of my Blu Ray discs.
Yet the bells and whistles on the interior control panels for the driver were really what makes this MOM’s minivan.
All within an arm’s reach not only are you controlling basic functions but everything you need for the doors to open and close you can do so in your driver’s seat. The side doors also have a button that you co
The other feature I liked was the Power Split and the Stow 3rd Row Seat. Whether we had strollers or boxes I was impressed with how easy it was to stow the last row of seats.
In the 8 passenger van you can also change out the middle row AND you have extra cargo space. What I like is that you didn’t have to take the seats out and store them in the garage, they stored in the van. Plenty of space meant strollers and boxes could fit so easily. Also if you sat in the back you could easily utilize a footrest and the seats in the middle could be moved and adjusted for passengers
My daughter really enjoyed the moonroof in the back for those passenger while the front driver and passenger had their own.
What was unique about this is that when we would drive around Houston or San Antonio it was a wonderful view of the sky in the spring. Kinda like saying “The Sky is Awake!”
Overall it was a fantastic experience for us in the Toyota Sienna and with an MSRP of around $26,920 this is an affordable van.
The Safety Specialist
The Toyota Sienna may not be protecting us from alien robots but your family will be secure with the luxury of amazing safety features.
The side mirrors had blind spot monitors that were very helpful for at a glance checking to see if a car was in your blind spot. I enjoyed the reverse camera on the huge instrument panel which made reversing a breeze. It also came with the Star Safety System™, a suite of six active safety features that include Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Smart Stop Technology® (SST). Everything necessary to keep you safe and stable on the road.
The 2014 Toyota Sienna received the NHTSA Overall Safety Rating. This van also received 8.5 on a scale of 10 with KBB.com (Kelley Blue Book) consumer ratings.
