Jenny Craig and Team Jenny at the #DallasHeartWalk

On Saturday I joined Jenny Craig Brand Ambassador Nicole Sullivan as well as fellow blogger, Arena from The Nerd’s Wife  with Team Jenny at the AHA Heart Walk  in Dallas, Texas! There were about 50,000 people there and I felt so energized and excited to be a part of Team Jenny. It was such a wonderful crisp day in Dallas as we started the walk in the mid to upper 60’s. It really did feel like fall. I think one of my favorite parts was to be able to walk with Nicole and The Nerd’s Wife as well as the whole Team Jenny over the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. It’s such a pretty structure up close and the skies were beautiful.

My sister uses Jenny Craig and she looks fabulous. She is over 40 (W, forgive me for telling people that) and her commitment to Jenny Craig and exercise has resulted in a weight loss of over 30 pounds, controlling her diabetes and she looks good. That’s why I’m inspired to also try it out. When I think of the light blue bags of Jenny Craig popcorn, I think of my sister. As a result of my participation as a blogger, I’m also going to be trying out Jenny Craig for a month and letting all of you learn about my progress as well. From my picture I really need to lose weight, so I can’t wait to start.

Jenny Craig Brand Ambassador Nicole Sullivan is proud to participate in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk on behalf of “Team Jenny.” The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event that brings communities together to raise funds and celebrate progress in the fight against this country’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers, heart disease and stroke. Jenny Craig is a proud National Sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and is supporting more than 300 walks across the United States in 2012.

Actress-comedian Nicole Sullivan joined Jenny after the birth of her second son and reached her goal of losing 35 pounds.* Today, she’s happier and healthier than ever, loves having the energy to chase after her two young boys, and is proud to be walking with “Team Jenny.”

“I’m honored to be involved in such an incredible event, and am thrilled to walk alongside my ‘Team Jenny’ friends,” said Sullivan. “I hope I can help spread the word that losing weight isn’t just about slipping into those skinny jeans, it’s about being healthy and lowering your risk for weight-related diseases, so you can live a longer and happier life for yourself and for your family.”

Evidence shows that losing 5-10% of your body weight reduces your risk for cardiovascular diseases through improvements in blood cholesterol levels. [1]In support of the American Heart Association’s healthy-living initiative My Heart. My Life™, Jenny Craig launched My Heart. My Life.™ My Jenny, which focuses on educating the public regarding the significant health risks associated with weight-related diseases, including heart disease and stroke. Through marketing campaigns, PSAs, community programs, education and online activations, the brand is encouraging the public to eat better, move more and live a healthier life.

“Recent studies show that 42% of the country will be obese by 2030[2],” said Dana Fiser, Global CEO of Jenny Craig. “This statistic is simply unacceptable, and that’s why Jenny Craig is more committed than ever to helping people lose weight and get healthy so that we can turn those numbers around. As a proud National Sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk, we’re leading the charge to show people that just 30 minutes of activity a day can make a huge difference.”

Most people don’t realize that weight impacts their heart health and maintaining a healthy weight can positively impact risk factors including blood pressure and cholesterol management, blood sugar levels and BMI.  Current research surveys show that less than 1 percent of Americans are in “ideal heart health,” as defined by the AHA
and that’s why Jenny is proud to be supporting the American Heart Association’s mission to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent by 2020
