Did you know that Friday, October 5 is World Teacher Day?
As a former teacher, you couldn’t believe my delight when I recognized the day that it will be. Think back on your education and school days, is there a teacher that was your classroom hero? I bet there was.
I remember so many teachers that left an imprint on my life and laid the groundwork for the woman I am today. My parents who placed a premium on education and the value of my time spent learning. Mrs. Muhl, her green pen and her reminder for me to check for more in the story, led to a love of journalism. Dr. Mertens and her firm believe that excellence resides in every woman and that mercy is a beautiful treasure. Mr. Fritz who made history come alive and captured the nuances of a story in a way that captured my imagination too. Mrs. Brown who said physics is just one way to tell the story of life, and I believed her. Because of so many that touched my life, encouraged me to be a teacher and live as a life-long learner, I am so happy to partner with McDonald’s of North Texas to celebrate World Teacher Day with Restock the Classroom at several local restaurants.
Here’s how it works:
On Friday, October 5, McDonald’s of North Texas, in alignment with their commitment to education, the communities that they service and our local schools, are partnering with local radio stations to “restock the classroom.” Each year, our public school teachers dip into their own pockets to provide additional resources for their classrooms. From pens and pencils to higher tech, our teachers step up and fill in the gaps. Guests can bring by supplies for donation and be entered into win Arch gift cards, laptops and other cool swag.
Here are the locations:
Dallas: 2-4pm supported by local radio KLIF-FM at the McDonald’s at 1251 E. Beltline, Richardson, Texas 75080
Fort Worth: 4-6pm supported by local radio KBFB-FM at the McDonald’s at 700 East Berry Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76110
See you there ~ TBC
