“I want to press the button!” my youngest stammered as we made our way into the elevator at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. We entered the valet stand on Houston street right next to the Fort Worth Convention Center and I could tell the Front Desk and concierge knew we were up to some Fort Worth Fun. With my 5 and 4 year old you just can’t help it – fun is what Fort Worth is all about and the Omni Fort Worth has some amazing room and package specials that brings out the best of Fort Worth. Everything for families, romantic couples, a girl’s spa getaway or anything you can think of the Omni Fort Worth has a room package for you.
The Fort Worth Zoo Package
For our little adventure in Fort Worth, the truly western side of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, we got to experience a complimentary Fort Worth Zoo package to give you the inside scoop on what Fort Worth and the Omni Fort Worth has to offer. If you have not been to the Fort Worth Zoo, then you are really missing out on this International award winning zoo experience. Included in this hotel package is the following:
- Luxurious accommodations – We got two queen beds and a great view of downtown Fort Worth.
- Daily breakfast buffet at the hotel’s Cast Iron restaurant, per registered guest
- Zoo tickets for each registered guest, per stay
- One (1) complimentary copy of Good Night Cowtown
- Turndown amenities (for adults and kids) on the night of arrival
- Pre-arrival call from the concierge to help plan your perfect stay
Omni Fort Worth Concierge – the folks in the know
If you are new to Fort Worth or even a local, the Omni Fort Worth concierge team are definitely the people in the know. Upon our arrival my kiddos received two mini backpacks with coloring books that they quickly dove into while in the room.
The concierge gave tips about the Stockyards, Sundance Square, taking Molley the Trolley (FOR FREE!) as well as the Fort Worth Zoo. He told us to head directly to our right as we enter the zoo to take what he dubbed “the Madagascar” tour. Like the animated movie Madagascar, you can see all the animals in the movie in one area.
Then we made our way to the Yellow Rose Express to “Texas Wild!” Explore a petting zoo, a carousel along with animals and habitats that make up Texas. Also in Texas Wild! are ways to address conservation efforts and farming in Texas.
Then walk your way back to the front to explore the other exhibits of the zoo including the MOLA – Museum of Living Art, a herpetarium. This makes navigating the zoo in a day a worthwhile endeavor. While at the 8 acre Texas Wild! you can dine at the Bluebonnet Cafe and outdoor deck which had plenty of shade and a lot of room outside or eat indoors.
Enjoy all of this fun with Fort Worth zoo admission included in the overall resort package. You can also use the Omni’s Free shuttle service (call in advance) that takes you to the front of the zoo, as well as to the stockyards and in downtown Fort Worth.
Another convenient transportation option if you plan on exploring downtown Fort Worth is the FREE Molly the Trolley! So it looks like a trolley but on the inside it reminds me more of a bus. It is also air conditioned and each stop has a map of the trolley route and stops. I love that it is free and there’s a stop right in front of the hotel on Houston street next to the Starbuck’s (Yay! For Starbucks).
Omni Fort Worth Turndown Service
The turndown amenities that we got nightly in our rooms was a real treat for the kids. Every night it is something different. Besides cookies and milk as part of the Omni Sensational Kids program we were greeted to nuts, cheese trays, fruit and more. The next night we got whiskey for the adults, roasted nuts, and beef jerkey. The hotel has it’s own Bob’s Steak and Chop House but free buffet breakfast at Cast Iron was really good and well worth it. The free buffet breakfast was included in the package as well. The kids really enjoyed the buffet.
Hotel Amenities and the Pool
There is nothing more relaxing than hanging out in the hot tub and the kids really enjoyed the swimming pool. Located on the 3rd floor the outdoor pool has a zero entry design on one end. This makes it easy for the little ones to experience water play and my littles enjoyed that a lot.
By the pool area is their outdoor bar and lounge called the Waterhorse Pool Bar which seemed like a very popular spot for adults. If you are looking for a good cocktail or glass of wine, besides the Fort Worth Omni’s many restaurants they also have The Wine Thief – a wine bar off the hotel lobby with drink and appetizer specials and they have Whiskey & Rye which is a great neighborhood bar featuring local and regional draft beers from Rahr & Sons Brewery. They also have a ton of TVs to watch the game.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel and exploring Fort Worth. We got to take the trolley to Sundance Square and have brunch at a favorite spot of mine – The Bird Café. They always have such creative dishes and you can’t beat the amazing craft cocktails. The patio of the Bird Café is a must to look out at the fountains on Sundance Square.
Take in some Fort Worth fun with the Fort Worth Zoo package at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel.
