It’s Stickman Stew and the Gold Heart Crew, a band of adorable and plush stick figure friends that help kids and families teach respect. When I decided to make this blog more about helping an area non-profit, I was blown away about what I could do to help in the form of services and my expertise. As a blogger I get to meet a wide variety of brands and companies that I wouldn’t normally get to meet. It’s this relationship that I build that can help me ask for help and donations to a local Dallas charity that I support, Vogel Alcove.
Vogel Alcove helps kids soar
For nearly 25 years, Vogel Alcove has provided free quality child development services for Dallas’ youngest victims of poverty: homeless children 6 weeks to 5 years old. I have supported this charity with social media efforts onresulting in a social media reach of about 150,000 on Twitter and other social media accounts. So you can help Vogel Alcove again by purchasing one of these Stickman Stew dolls this Christmas. Every toy sold online will result in a toy being donated to a kid’s charity from a list on their website. I hope you purchase one for your child, grandchild or friend that is about $10 (+shipping). Each time you do, one is donated and I hope you will choose Vogel Alcove as your charity of choice. Many of the kids at Vogel Alcove are in shelters and don’t have their own rooms and toys. Vogel Alcove is a safe place for them and a place that teaches them a variety of different things, one of them being respect.
Respect and Stickman Stew
One of the things that I love aboutis that each doll in the set of 4 that are part of the Gold Heart Crew has a gold heart. Each doll is plush and bendable and doesn’t require batteries. Per Jane Guinn, founder, Stick figures are the first drawing kids use to express how they see the world. And yet, in all that time, stick figures have never had a heart. Until now.” One of the lessons that Jane would like Stickman Stew dolls to express are the concepts of respect and “loving thy neighbor.” When I think of the traumatic situations that many of the kids in Vogel Alcove have gone through it is a tough lesson to learn and appreciate. Many have seen abuse and little to no respect being paid to themselves or their families. Many of the families at Vogel Alcove are single parent families. Hopefully Stickman Stew dolls can provide a way to begin rebuilding their lives and start learning these lessons.
