Video of Dallas Police Chief David Brown doing the Nae Nae dance surfaced Tuesday. (He’s to the right of the screen and does some quick moves before exiting stage left.) But not to be outdone, Dallas ISD police Chief Craig Miller showed off his own moves to the hip-hop song Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae). Who does it best? And so that you know what the dance looks like, I’ve added a video of “experts” doing it at bottom.

4 Creative Themes for Your Kid’s Birthday Party

110713_2001_4CreativeTh1.jpg

Your kid’s party is coming up and you are loaded with many fresh ideas. Certainly, you are thinking of inviting bunch of children in the party. Planning or conceptualizing kid’s party is fun but when it comes to the execution, it can be daunting and exhausting too. If you are tired of the regular party savors, games or birthday themes and looking for something new this time for your kid then following are some extremely fun and attractive kids party ideasThese ideas will surely help you to make your kid’s birthday bash famous among his or her friends.

Dinosaur theme for your little monsters: It is the most popular birthday theme among the kids having the age 6 to 10. Throwing a prehistoric dinosaur party will surely be an experience that he or she will never forget in the life. They can enjoy a hearty roar, a teeth-clashing chomp and the magic of prehistoric creatures. Also, stick with a dinosaur-themed cake and decorations to maintain the excitement level of the kids. Today, there are lots of Dinosaur rental companies around to provide you all the services at affordable prices. Your kid will likely remember this day as the best birthday bash of the era.

Movie Theatre: Gone are the days when children are used to content with the small birthday cake or a bicycle. Now they want a place where they can mingle with their friends and entertained. Unfortunately, bringing a group of kids to the movies can be very expensive. One of the best things to hold a movie theatre party is to arrange a fun middle ground where the kids can enjoy and watch the movie on satellite TV. This will help you to save a good amount of money and also ensure all to have a good time. With this, you can have a variety of channels to choose from no matter whether it is a sport, action or comedy film. All you need to do is send out invitations with a movie theme to get everyone excited about the idea.

Cupcake Party: If there are things that girls adore, they are sweets and overnight parties. So, why not combine the two. You can throw all-night birthday bash for your daughter that will be remembered for the years to come. No doubt, you will have to face a huge mess but throwing a cupcake party will be quite easy. Instead of spending a fortune on props and a party space, you can purchase lots of different flavorings, toppings, eggs, butter and flour. Your daughter will certainly remember this event all the years of her life.

Monster Party: Popular cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse, Sponge Bob, square parents and Elmo have always been seen in the kids’ party. Nothing will make your child happier than by seeing a fully suited monster. Ask the guest to come dressed as the favorite superhero or a villain. But bear in mind, some kids might be little frightened by monsters. Make sure to invite the guest’s parents also to hang around so all of them can feel safe.

Author’s Bio: Mary Wilson loves writing about fun party stuff. She has written some interesting articles about kids’ birthday places and games to enjoy. She is also working closely with friends to create stress free ways to plan the child’s birthday party.

Epic star Emma Kenney provides fresh face to Marigold Girl

Emma K.-6556-PRINT (1)

Marigold_Girl_ (1)What girl or marigold doesn’t dream about idolizing a queen and finding their way. Emma Kenney does a fantastic job as the child voice for Marigold girl in the movie who idolizes and saves Queen Tara in the beginning of the movie. Emma Kenney known for her fame in Shameless plays the Marigold Girl in Epic in her first animated feature film role. The experience for her was amazing. In an interview a few weeks back with Kenney, I got to follow along and see what it was like to play an animated character and to find out what she did with her summer and what people should take away from this film.

Epic_BD_BeautyOcard_Circular (1)

Epic is currently on DVD and from the creators of Ice Age, the year’s funniest, most exhilarating animated adventure comes home as EPIC debuts on Blu-ray Combo Pack, Deluxe Edition Blu-ray, and DVD this August 20 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.  Directed by Chris Wedge (The Ice Age Franchise) and featuring an amazing voice cast including Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried, Christoph Waltz, Jason Sudeikis, Steven Tyler, Pitbull, and Beyoncé, the blockbuster film comes home just in time to help families become one with nature and end the summer in Epic style.

Emma K.-6556-PRINT (1)

So in talking to Emma, I asked her to describe the Marigold girl and what she’s like in the movie

Emma: Marigold is like any other little girl that has big dreams and looks up to Queen Tara (played by Beyonce)

What was it like to work on an animated film?

Emma: Well you are not actually working with any of the other actors. You are just in a studio so you have to pretend that you are talking to the other actor. Voice over took almost a year and it was amazing to work with director, Chris Wedge (Ice Age). It was different in the booth going over lines over and over again.

What do you like about working on the set of Shameless?

Emma: Oh I love it. I’ve been there for four seasons and I grew up there. From when we first shot the pilot till now, everyone looks so different.

Back to the movie, Epic, what would you like audiences to take away from this film?

Emma: I’d like audiences to remember to take care of their environment and do all they can to protect the planet.

What did you do over the summer?

Emma: I got to go to Paris with a friend. It was so cool and amazing. I also went to camp for 3 weeks.

Great App for Single Moms? DirecTV for Tablets

Happy mom and child

Happy mom and childAfter chasing around after the kids all day, I’m so pooped at night that I just want to zone out, recharge and unwind. I’m talking no stress. So when I turn on the TV at the end of the day, I want something to look forward to that’s fun and easy without spending time changing the channel or searching for the good stuff. And if I’ve DVR’ed shows to watch later, so much the better!

Recently I tried the DirecTV app for my iPad, which is called DirecTV EVERYWHERE. I’m not a typical TV app viewer. I don’t read recaps, play games or any of that jazz. For me, it’s just entertainment at the end of the day. A friend had purchased the app after reading about it at directstartv.org, and really enjoyed having all of the scheduling information there at her fingertips. I decided to give it a try and let all my single moms know in case they want to use it too.

What the app does

The App Store notes that the app allows you to stream content live, schedule content to record and browse for new content. As a single mom, I loved that I could browse kids’ content, get descriptions of TV shows and past episodes, and see parental ratings. If I want to, I can even control what shows my kids can watch right from inside the app. Having this right on my iPad means that I can review additional shows while I’m watching TV, making the most of my limited time.

I could see how this could also help single moms of teens be closer to their kids: These moms could catch up on the plot of their teen’s favorite shows and discuss them. Mom might be too busy to watch the shows herself, but the bonding opportunity is priceless. In fact, 55 percent of families surveyed found watching television one of the best ways of family bonding. You can use it to find new shows to watch with your kids, and make sure the shows are age appropriate for your family members.

Pros and cons

At present, the app is free — a major bonus for single moms looking to save on entertainment. Of course, to use the app you’ll need to have a DirecTV subscription.

The app is pretty intuitive, and most of the Android and iOS users found it pretty easy to use. You won’t need to invest a lot of time in learning how to work the app, so you can get started right away.

The DVR connect is great for moms on the go: You can record things your kids will love, then show them when you’re on a date, for example.

As Google Play notes, not all of DirecTV’s content is available or streaming, and what is available depends on your subscription. Since more of their content will surely be available down the road, folks who don’t yet have DirecTV may wait to upgrade. If you already have DirecTV, though, it’s a free and useful addition to your phone or tablet device.
