Lone Star Park
1000 Lone Star Pkwy, Grand Prairie, TX 75050
It’s easy to see why people of all ages enjoy coming to Lone Star Park, there’s a lot for everyone. This is probably the only place where you will see an eclectic mix of people all hanging out and cheering (or jeering) for the horse that comes in first place. From the elderly gentleman smoking cigars on a bench poring over the programs, to families having a picnic on the open lawn there is something for just about everyone at Lone Star Park.
You can celebrate a date night, an outing or even head out to the Bar and Book when there is no live racing going on. There are meeting rooms here, Silks dining and a variety of events that happen at this venue. Lone Star Park has two live racing seasons every year, The Spring Thoroughbred Season April through July and the Fall Meeting of Champions from early September through mid-November.
Celebrating 20 years of Lone Star Park
Lone Star Park is celebrating 20 years and it is quickly growing to be one of my favorite yearly traditions to attend with the kids. This jewel of the Southwest is definitely the pride and joy in Grand Prairie when it comes to attractions and boasts 315 acres. I typically head to the Bar & Book for simulcasting of racing but it also one of my favorite places to watch PPV sports such as UFC and other high profile sports events. The track has a one-mile (1.6 km) dirt oval and a seven-furlong turf track, and has accommodations for 1,600 horses across 32 barns. The climate-controlled grandstand has a seating capacity of roughly 8,000 people.
Price – tickets start at just $5 for general admission
This is such a great deal and on certain days you have Dollar Night which is typically $1 general admission, $1 hot dogs, $1 soft drinks, $1 programs, $1 popcorn and $2 beer. Dollar nights vary throughout the season. Seating is great offering different perspectives of the track. You can easily place a garden chair on the grass and at the Courtyard of Champions and get a great view of what’s going on around you whether it’s the horses or general people watching. Even at other admission levels all the way as much as the end line field seats at $27.00 you have a good seat. There’s also box seats, the clubhouse, the terrace seats, Silks Dining and more.
