This always happens to me. I get invited somewhere or I plan a party and I rush to get a bottle of wine. With the large assortment and aisle after aisle it can take me forever to find a bottle. Then when I do it is something I don’t like at all.
I curated this list of some great wine choices via my Maven board. I use Maven to curate many of my favorite things on the Internet – like a cross between Pinterest and shopping. I put together this fabulous list to showcase a variety of different wine options that you can get at a variety of different places to get them at a discount (sometimes 70% off) and shipped to your home. Some of these assortments come with a free gift and free shipping.
My favorite wine
I happen to love a good Malbec. Malbec is a purple grape variety for making red wine. They have an inky dark color and the wine taste if very robust. This grape variety can also be found in Bordeaux. The French plantations of Malbec are now found primarily in Cahors in South West France. It is increasingly celebrated as an Argentine varietal wine and that is the variety I am most familiar with.
Wine Clubs and $6 bottles
You can also get $6 bottles of wine from Heartwood and Oak. Get a mixed variety of red and white or opt for all red or all white. The Wall Street Journal just posted an article about why women drink white wine. Some women say red wines and especially the tannins in them can cause headaches while white whines are easier on you. I don’t know enough about this phenomenon to know if it is true. However if you would like to try out a variety for yourself or with your friends you won’t go wrong mixing it up.
In any case check out the entire board I have up at Maven called Entertaining at Home with Wine and find yourself a few varieties that you may like.
