Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a press event for the new launch of the Tullamore Dew Caribbean Rum Cask Finish, the latest addition to the Tullamore Dew Whiskey collection. It is a versatile whiskey with oak, pineapple, vanilla and a fruity finish because of the aging in the Demerara Rum casks.
It is a delicious celebration of the 50,000 Irish immigrants that settled in the West Indies and began a long history of distillation and crafting fine spirits. The Brand Ambassador John met us at Trinity Hall at Mockingbird Station here in Dallas. The Irish pub atmosphere was perfect for the adventure of tasting and learning about how the blends at Tullamore make some of the best whiskeys available. To run concurrent with the launch and to share a bit of the beauty of the human spirit, the resiliency of people that live, breathe and enjoy life and the connectedness of each and every one of us, Tullamore launched the I AM BLEND campaign.
I am already a fan of the Original Tullamore DEW, it floats regularly through our rotation, but I couldn’t wait to learn the history and see more of what was, what would be coming soon and how it came to be. Nestled in the loft area, we chatted with old friends, listened to the sounds of laughter, conversation and excitement as we learned about Tullamore’s distinctive taste.
Did you know that Tullamore’s recognizable flavor is due to the beauty of their original triple distilled, triple blend recipe? It is expertly crafted to create a smooth taste, gentle fire and echo the peet and smoky caramel flavors that Irish Whiskey fans adore and that have stood the test of time. I found that I love the oak behind the caramel and the almost creamy taste of the older editions. This launch was paired with the #IAmBlend campaign that is timely, beautifully done and celebrates the beauty of the blend, the beauty of the human race and how many awesome things happen when we come together. The commercials share some of the diversity of Ireland and the fun of bringing people together as friends and family. As a part of the campaign Tullamore DEW partnered with MyHeritageDNA for Ancestry DNA tests to further explore the beauty of our own personal blends.
The process was super easy and then you drop it in the mail. After the process was complete, we would all share our results, our stories and celebrate the beauty of our various blends.
I’ve always wanted to see my results and this was a perfect opportunity to do just that.. and see where I come from. It was fascinating. I am literally from almost the entire planet. Some pieces of the story I knew and others were complete surprises. Now, I have so many more places to visit, family to find, experiences to try and opportunities to see the beauty of my own personal blend.
It is simply one more reminder that so many lives came together to create us as we are right now. It’s a beautiful story and confirms the beauty of the blend.
