Why do we celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Borrowed from the Mexican celebration, May 5th is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza. With Texas being so close to Mexico, Cinco de Mayo festivities flourish here in the land of Tex-mex and margaritas. This year, 2017, Cinco de Mayo falls on a Friday so that leaves us Saturday to rest up from our hangovers. If you are trying to get your drink on for Cinco de Mayo, here are a few of the hottest drink specials and recipes for your Cinco De Mayo Celebrations.
