There could be over 200,000 women converging on Washington DC on January 21, 2017 as part of a grassroots movement to send a message the day after President Trump’s inauguration. Since the election on November 8 it seems like the world has experience a whirlwind of emotion and upheaval with what seems like very different and opposing forces going head to head in extreme polarity on issues. If it isn’t clear on where I am politically I am very independent. At my base I am liberal and almost progressive when it comes to social issues and yet I am also very conservative when it comes to economic issues. This can be a challenging balancing act for me politically but one that requires I pay close to attention to actions and voting records of my elected officials.
The Women’s March in Washington is sending a message on January 21, 2017 that aims to “send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world that women’s rights are human rights.” Sister marches will be held in other major metropolitan areas around the world.
Here in Dallas-Fort Worth there will be marches and rallies along with other major cities in Texas especially at the State Capitol in Austin as well as in San Antonio, Houston and other cities. Here are the ones locally in North Texas.
I will be attending the one in Dallas this Saturday at 10 AM.
