Introduction: I love this complete list of healthy foods that should become like second nature to you when you are at the grocery store. Many of these I use on a daily basis in my smoothies such as flax seed, egg whites and blueberries. As part of my new regimen I have a smoothie daily for breakfast. Salmon is another favorite of mine. Keep in mind there is still a need for vitamins and supplements.
You know the goodness of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. But which of those foods actually turn up to be your friends while adding vitality to your healthy lifestyle? There are specific foods that provide optimum nutrition to your body while fulfilling your body’s “healthy” diet needs. Incorporate the following healthy foods into your diet and see the difference this brings to your energy levels, weight loss plans, and overall health:
Wild Salmon
Mercury levels in wild salmon are low, which indicates that it provides optimum protein and nutrition while having few calories. In addition, it contains a healthy amount of Omega-3, which is great for your heart’s health.
Yogurt
Loaded with vitamin B, calcium, and potassium, yogurt is considered a super food that maintains your digestive system well. When buying this healthy treat, remember to opt for sugar-free yogurt only.
Egg Whites
Even if you choose the eat eggs with yolk, you will be getting just 80 calories for each egg. However, health professionals specifically suggest egg whites only because the yellow center is full of cholesterol. You can eat egg whites with your favorite vegetables to enjoy the taste even more.
Almonds
Almonds do not only aid in the reduction of bad cholesterol, these healthy nuts will also help you lose those extra pounds! Almonds are also good for your heart. However, you need to ensure the amount of almonds you should take.
Apples
An apple a day is really worth it! Packed with high fiber, these amazing fruits contribute in reducing the risk of getting heart disease. Apples are also beneficial for your bones as they contain mineral boron.
Blueberries
Blueberries are anti-inflammatory fruits that are loaded with antioxidants. You can have this yummy fruit daily with yogurt or whole wheat.
Leafy Greens
Healthy greens, such as, cabbage, kale, and broccoli have high nutrition value. Furthermore, these veggies may contribute well to lowering the risk of cancer. Most importantly, spinach is a must have food which is rich in vitamin K and iron. This may prevent arthritis, diabetes, and osteoporosis. I used spinach and kale in a recipe most recently for a summer veggie stir fry.
Black Beans
Craving omelet for breakfast? Add black beans to this diet and your body will get nutrition in the form of folic acid, iron, and calcium.
Orange Juice
Drinking super foods is also a great idea. So juice some oranges and drink the vitamin C your body needs the most. Besides vitamin C, orange juice is rich in potassium.
Tomatoes
Loaded with an antioxidant known as lycopene, tomatoes help prevent cancer. Rather than eating tomato slices, it is best to eat lots of tomato sauce to get more nutrients.
Pumpkin
Looking for low-calorie diet? Choose a pumpkin! Versatile as a cooking food, pumpkin is full of vitamin A, fiber, and beta carotene which aids in preventing heart disease.
Bananas
If you want to maintain your blood pressure level, digestive and muscular systems, then go for bananas. These fruits are rich in potassium and fiber.
Flax Seeds
Flax seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids that are good for your heart. Before you eat these seeds, don’t forget to grind them first. You can sprinkle the grinded seeds onto your favorite meal. The weekend warrior smoothie I drink daily for breakfast has flax seed in it.
Sweet Potatoes
If you want a tasty snack, you can prefer sweet potatoes over chips! Sweet potatoes are healthy enough to keep you fuller while providing potassium to reduce any risk of stroke. For more information, you can always visit numerous authentic health websites.
Eggplant
Though it seems to be unglamorous, egg plant can provide you all the B vitamins your body actually needs. Its powerful antioxidants protect brain cells while controlling lipid levels.
Now that you have a list of those super foods you had always wanted to explore, staying healthy is no more a challenging task for you. Simply stock up your refrigerator with these healthy foods and there you are: A healthy YOU!
