Designed to exceed your expectations and priced with your family in mind, the 2022 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy AWD is a beautiful combination of space, function and everyday luxury.

When the Palisade arrived for review, it was a gorgeous day in North Texas. The leaves had just started to turn, and the blistering heat of a lingering summer had begun to lessen. In Moonlight Cloud, a deep shade of navy with a hint of a silvery shimmer, it caught the sunlight.

The light highlighted the robust lines of the grille, the sweeping expanse of the carriage and danced off the roof, the windshield, etched rims and passenger windows. It made an impression and set an expectation of luxury with a nod to the elegant restrained lines of prestige vehicles past.
What You’ll Love:
The magic is in the details.

If you are looking for a full-size SUV, the Palisade is worth a look or three and definitely a test-drive. While the Calligraphy is the top of trim line for this vehicle, the Palisade is another example of the evolution of Hyundai into a powerhouse brand, delivering winner after winner over the last five years.

Seating 7, each region of the vehicle is designed for comfort, connectivity and safety. From adjustable drive modes, quilted leather touch points, microfiber microsuede headline, flexibly generous space for all passengers and rear climate control, the Palisade hits so many of my must-haves for a family vehicle.

Add that to easy third row access, the charging ports in third row, in the captain’s chairs of the driver and front passenger for the second row and multiple ports for the front occupants to the multitude of cupholders, cargo holds, push-button control of the 60/40 folding 3rd row seat and light-bringing moon roof, the Palisade feels generous, spacious, special and tailored to life.
What You’ll Need to Know:

The Palisade is equipped Hyundai’s Smart Sense safety system. It comes standard with the vehicle at any trim level, and is world class. You can read more about it here. But to sum it up, it means that as a driver, you get rear-occupant alert, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision avoidance, blind-spot avoidance and assist, safe exit assist and pedestrian detection at no extra cost.
I found that I enjoyed the 12.3″ fully-digital infotainment center. It is unintrusive and uncomplicated, placing all the connectivity features that I love within easy reach. Apple CarPlay picked within moments and was navigable from the steering wheel or by touchscreen. Also, don’t miss trying out Driver Talk, which lets the third-row passengers hear exactly what you are saying while talking at a reasonable volume, no screaming into the back needed.
The knob-adjustable drive modes make driving an additional pleasure. These drive-modes are optimized by the HTRAC system, which basically tracks vehicle speed, senses road conditions, helps the vehicle choose how to distribute power to the front and rear wheels and control the braking between the right and left wheels to ensure that you have the best drive possible, regardless of the road conditions or the mode that you select.

While you can choose from Eco, Comfort, Sport, Smart, Snow and AWD Lock, my personal favorite was Comfort and Sport modes. I like the responsive handling, brilliant cornering and dynamic engagement in those modes. I also enjoyed the feel of the steering wheel — it’s shaped right with no odd details that get in the way while driving. My children appreciated the space, the charging ports and the dual panel moon roof. Commented on more than once, it makes the vehicle feel spacious and lets you see the stars with an unobstructed view. As seen here.

Available in 4 trims (see more here) and basing at just over $33,000, the Hyundai Palisade AWD got around 22 mpg during our test with mostly in city driving shuttling people to and from school, running errands and a bit of dancing around 635 and the Toll Road to Plano. Being in Texas, it saw a variety of driving conditions from newly paved highway, gravel laden roads to trails that could barely be described as streets, handling each with grace and surprising power. The details elevate this vehicle from a family hauler to a decadent daily driver.
