Update: We had the pleasure of taking the Kia Sorento to Tyler, Texas for National RoadTrip Day. Click here for peeks at the adventure.

With a refined sensibility and luxurious elements, the 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid EX is a mid-size SUV that effectively blends form and function, finding the sweet spot for buyers that are not quite ready to step into the fully-EV space.
What You’ll Love:
A literal case-study in brand evolution, Kia has made the investment in research, development and design and pivoted to become one of the most sought-after brands among the current mass market mobility makers.
The 2022 Sorento is the latest offer a family of vehicles imbued with power and a minimalistic elegance. Over the last seven years or so the Korean brand has been consistently creating rides that cause double takes and are converting legacy luxury buyers into proud, dang-near evangelic Kia-owners.

This mid-size SUV seats 6, with reclining Captain’s chairs in the middle and the folding third row. Delivering easy access to each of the rows, plenty of cupholders and 8 charging ports that are in easy access of passengers in each quadrant of the vehicle, the Sorento is a family dream. Situated between the full-size, award-winning Telluride and the more petite Sportage, the Sorento features a panoramic moon roof with a sunshade to keep you cool, a super handy power liftgate and Syntex seating, which feels like leather, but is more durable and easily wipeable.

The model that we tested had the available All Wheel Drive, a 1.6L Turbo Hybrid Powertrain with 227 hp enables an impressive 258lbs of Torque and gives you the get up and go that you need get up the hill or to escape off the grid for a weekend adventure. Remote start and 10.25” touchscreen infotainment center enabled by Kia’s Connect program round a set of features that put a premium on convenience and anticipate the needs of a passengers throughout the vehicle.

We drove throughout the metroplex in rain, sleet and hail with ease. The easy access drive modes insured that I felt confident that the vehicle would do what it was supposed to do and that my children and I would ride in comfort. The ride was smooth and stable. The drive felt solid, not loosey-goosey or like the vehicle was too light.

19-inch machine finished wheels with the new distinctive rims elevate the Sorento to a definite looker. There was more than enough space and cargo holds for gear, leg room for long legged teens and with right around 600 miles on a full 17-gallon tank, the Sorento Hybrid EX is an impressive combination.

What to Know:
With all three seats up, the trunk space is petite and if you are going to use the third row on the daily, consider stepping up to the larger Telluride.
How Much It Costs:

The 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid comes in 2 trims, the S and the EX and bases at $34,090 and $36,090 respectively. If you are considering a family SUV, the Sorento should be on your short list.
