Reality Star Jessi Ngatikaura: “This Surgery Ruined My Life and My Career”

Jessi Ngatikaura, best known as a cast member on the reality show ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’, broke down in tears during a recent TikTok video in which she opened up about her deep regret over a $25,000 cosmetic procedure. The star admitted that she is extremely dissatisfied with the results and that the experience has shaken both her personal and professional life. Her emotional confession quickly gained widespread attention, sparking a broader conversation about the pressures celebrities face when it comes to their appearance. Jessi was candid and visibly distressed as she spoke directly to her followers, holding nothing back.

“It’s been really hard for me,” she said in the video. “I honestly feel like this last surgery ruined my life.” She acknowledged that her statement might sound over the top but explained that her livelihood is closely tied to how she looks on camera. “I know that sounds dramatic, but my job heavily depends on my appearance,” she added. “I’m on camera, I film a TV show, I have to do interviews, and now everyone is coming at me.” Jessi also noted that the surgery has made it difficult for her to embrace new professional opportunities, even though she has no choice but to push through.

The procedure itself involved both upper and lower blepharoplasty, which is a surgical correction of the eyelids, along with a fat transfer. Jessi admitted that she had only gone in planning to have lower eyelid surgery and was swayed into agreeing to the additional steps during consultations. She was especially candid about the fat transfer, saying “I honestly didn’t want the fat transfer,” and that she simply went along with the recommendation without fully understanding what the process would look like or what recovery would involve. She now wishes she had asked more questions and pushed for clearer information from her doctor before going under the knife. To make matters worse, fat was also placed in her lips without her explicitly requesting it, leaving them feeling, in her own words, “really lumpy.”

Jessi also took the time to prepare her fans for what they will see when season five of ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ airs. “When you guys watch season five, it’s going to be even worse,” she warned. “I look freaking terrible throughout the entirety of season five. My face is swollen, my eyes look weird, I don’t look like myself.” She expressed how deeply uncomfortable she feels in her own skin right now and admitted she looks back at old photos and footage from the fourth season and only sees what she has lost. “I really hate it. I truly hate it. I look at old photos. I look at season four and I think, ‘Damn, I looked really good,’” she said, adding that the thought alone is enough to bring her to tears.

Despite the pain of the experience, Jessi has tried to frame it as a turning point. She reflected on how her own insecurities had blinded her to her natural beauty and led her to go further than she ever should have. She now calls the whole ordeal the biggest lesson of her life and says she will not be pursuing any further facial work beyond Botox going forward. She also used her platform to speak directly to anyone who might be considering a cosmetic procedure, urging them to “really think it through, do all the research, and give yourself time.” Her final message was one of self-acceptance, encouraging her audience to find comfort in their natural appearance and reach a place where they no longer feel that anything needs to be changed.

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures worldwide. It involves the removal or repositioning of excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat around the eyelids to create a more refreshed or youthful appearance. Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting, is a separate procedure in which fat is harvested from one part of the body and injected into another area to add volume. Both procedures are generally considered safe when performed by a qualified and board-certified plastic surgeon, but like any surgery, they carry risks including swelling, asymmetry, scarring, and results that may not meet the patient’s expectations. Recovery from blepharoplasty typically takes several weeks, during which swelling and bruising are common. Cosmetic surgery has become increasingly common among reality television personalities, partly due to the intense public scrutiny that comes with life in the spotlight and the pressures of appearing on camera regularly.
