She Was Listening to Harry Styles on a Bridge When He Suddenly Appeared Right in Front of Her

A casual Sunday stroll through New York City turned into something Julia Parker will probably never stop talking about. On March 8th, just two days after Harry Styles dropped his new album, Parker and her roommate Katherine Christen set out on their usual walk from Brooklyn toward the Lower East Side across the Williamsburg Bridge. What made the day already feel special had nothing to do with the music playing in their earbuds. “It was the first Sunday above 60 degrees in New York since summer,” Parker, 25, explained. “Anyone who lives here knows how big that is. Winter was long, so Kat and I were already so happy, saying, ‘This is the best day ever.’”

To make the afternoon even better, the two friends decided to listen to Styles’ newly released album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally,” while they walked. Parker had already latched onto a particular favorite from the record, a track called “Dance No More,” and the pair were dancing along to it as they crossed the bridge. It felt like the kind of afternoon that only happens a few times a year in a city like New York, when the weather and the mood and the soundtrack all line up perfectly.

Then a runner coming toward them suddenly stopped in her tracks. She grabbed both women by the shoulders and, slightly out of breath, asked whether they were Harry Styles fans. “Our reaction was, ‘Absolutely! Why?’” Parker recalled. The runner had a very specific answer. She told them that Styles was walking across the bridge right behind her, accompanied by actress Zoë Kravitz, and that they were heading straight in Parker and Christen’s direction. “She said, ‘Just so you know, he’s on the bridge and coming your way with Zoë Kravitz, so be prepared,’” Parker said.

The news hit Parker like a wave. “Honestly, my whole body went numb from shock,” she recalled. “I looked down at my phone and realized, oh my God, I am literally listening to his new album right now, and specifically my favorite song.” Christen immediately started recording, just in case the encounter actually happened. Parker, not wanting to intrude or make things awkward, came up with a quick, low-key plan. “I was going to just show him my phone and my headphones to let him know I was listening to his new album,” she explained.

And then there he was. The footage Christen captured shows Styles instantly responding to Parker’s gesture with a warm smile, walking straight toward her with a fist bump followed by a hug. “You can hear him saying something like, ‘That’s it, that’s what I’m talking about!’” Parker said. The video cuts off quickly, but the moment did not end there. “I remember being in shock because he was going in for a hug, so I asked, ‘Wait, can I hug you?’ He laughed and said, ‘Of course!’”

Styles then hugged Christen as well and leaned in to see exactly which song was playing. When Parker told him “Dance No More” was her favorite track on the album, he thanked them both for listening. He then asked each of them their names and shook their hands. Christen, seizing the moment, also took the opportunity to compliment Zoë Kravitz. “Kat told Zoë she was amazing,” Parker said. “Zoë was incredibly sweet, smiling and laughing at the whole surreal situation.”

After the encounter, the two friends spent a few minutes comparing notes with a couple of other fans who had also crossed paths with Styles on the bridge that day, exchanging numbers so they could share footage. Then they did the only thing that made sense. “We went back to Williamsburg and got drinks,” Parker said. “Honestly, what else were we going to do?” She later posted the video on TikTok mostly for friends, with no particular expectations. “I don’t use TikTok that much. I posted it mainly for myself and my friends.” The clip went on to rack up more than two million views. “It’s surreal to see it go viral,” she said. “The encounter itself was unreal, and this is just insane.”

What makes the story even stranger is that this was not Parker’s first unexpected Styles sighting near the same bridge. Exactly six months earlier, on September 8, 2025, she had spotted him running in the same area. He jogged past without stopping, so they never spoke, but the memory stayed with her. “I remember thinking everything was going to be okay, that I was in the right place at the right time,” she said.

The Williamsburg Bridge, completed in 1903, was actually the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time it opened, edging out the Brooklyn Bridge by just a few feet. Harry Styles’ full name is Harry Edward Styles, and before launching his solo career he reportedly auditioned for ‘The X Factor’ as a solo artist before being grouped into One Direction by the show’s producers. The album title “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally” follows Styles’ well-documented love of 1970s-inspired aesthetics, a thread that has run through his fashion and music since his very first solo record.
