She mingled with fellow guests, including world-renowned dog trainer Cesar Millan, and used the opportunity to push for greater awareness around animal welfare. Life looks very different for Heigl today compared to her peak ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ years. She relocated to a ranch in Utah some time ago to raise her three children away from the chaos of Hollywood. Her kids, Naleigh, 17, Adalaide, 13, and Joshua, 9, grew up with open land and animals surrounding them, far from the Los Angeles grind. The move allowed her to slow down and rediscover herself outside of the entertainment industry.
Heigl has been candid in the past about just how difficult those early Hollywood years were, particularly around the time she adopted her eldest daughter. She opened up about the emotional toll of filming ‘Life As We Know It’ shortly after bringing Naleigh home in 2009, admitting that her schedule left little room for bonding. “I never saw that baby,” she recalled in a previous interview. “I was always afraid that I had missed that opportunity to really bond with her and that she didn’t love me—in that moment,” she added, expressing the guilt that lingered long after that period passed.

In 2022, Heigl launched Badlands Ranch, a premium pet food and supplement line inspired by her ranch lifestyle in Utah. The brand has grown into her main professional focus, combining her entrepreneurial energy with her dedication to animal welfare. It also helps fund rescue efforts, making her business feel like an extension of the advocacy work she showed off at the Palm Beach gala. While she remains selective about returning to acting, she has not completely ruled it out.
Talks are currently underway about a possible sequel to her beloved 2008 romantic comedy ’27 Dresses,’ and Heigl seems genuinely open to the idea under the right conditions. “I think that we’re in talks about a 27 Dresses sequel, which, if done right and with that cast I love so much, would definitely be something I’d be willing to sort of compromise the mom time to do,” she recently shared. For now, though, her days are filled with chickens, goats, horses, and the kind of peace she has clearly worked hard to find.
