Get ready for a season of delight, passion, wonder, and pure operatic pleasure.
The Dallas Opera opens to a new season of decadent artistry, magnificent music, and exciting productions that bring delight to your day and serve for fascinating conversations for weeks after.
About the Season:
The season opens with a hat tip to the 150th anniversary of
Bizet’s Carmen. The Dallas Opera will celebrate with a new production that recreates the original 1875 Paris staging. In gracious style, we get first dibs for North America
in Dallas.
Followed by the “ravishing, haunting melodies and gripping drama” of
Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites. It’s the true story of the martyrdom of Carmelite nuns done in glorious splendor.
Afterwards, embrace youth with
Portman’s The Little Prince. Based on one the classics of children’s literature, similar to Mozart’s
The Magic Flute, it is appropriate for audiences of all ages.
The season concludes with the long-awaited return of
Verdi’s Don Carlo. The sweeping masterpiece is decadent and intimate as we journey through the “private torment of very public personalities”.
