In celebration of 60 years of empowering play, Mattel’s Barbie has launched the new innovative project called The Dream Gap Project designed to remind girls of the innate awesome that they possess and to actively dream bigger and share that awesome with the world by acquainting them with the other women already living the dream.
I can remember years of playing with Barbie, dressing her and imagining all the ways that dreams can come true. I have watched over the years as Barbie has evolved with the times, the trends and the desires of women and its audience. This new initiative makes my day as it benefits groups like She Should Run and other groups designed to get women involved in civic life and in community building.
Barbie has combined inspiring tech, video, and powerhouse partners to create an uplifting movement designed to encourage, inspire and motivate girls to live their best lives and remember that they can “Be Anything” and that Everything is Possible.
From Justices to Flight Attendants and Pilots to Chefs and Scientists to Vloggers… the message is clear, Barbie wants every girl to see herself in any setting that she wants to be. It’s a beautiful lesson that will do well to thrive and grow with the next generation of girls that play.
