If you find yourself battling with self-confidence on the regular, it can be exhausting. Reaching your goals can be more difficult and meeting new people may seem impossible – it’s not something you’re going to want to put up with for long at all.
It’s important to know that when you’re having trouble with confidence – you fight against it and can change the situation.
Of course, there are other options to help you with it, like therapy; but being more mindful won’t always help you if you’re not putting in effort anywhere else.
People with low confidence often will often compare themselves to others and why they cannot be the same. This is an example of low self-confidence that you need to work on as soon as possible. These thoughts are often irrational and come from a place that lacks understanding. Social comparisons can be useful when learning how to act in different social scenarios, but negative comparisons are not healthy.
Avoid toxic relationships
A major cause of low self-confidence can be the people around you. If you’re often being put down or bullied by those that you care for or look up to, it’s going to impact how you feel about yourself. You may start to believe the things you’re told about yourself, or value yourself less. If you’re often spending time with others who insult you, put you down, or doubt you – that’s a relationship you would be better off avoiding. Friends should reinforce your confidence, not wear it down.
Sometimes these relationships can be within the family. While it can be difficult to avoid family, you should at least make sure to address it with them, if not cutting them out.
We’ve all got things that we’re insecure about, but the more we focus on them, the more difficult they can be to overcome. If you’re experiencing insecurities that you find to be a challenge on a daily basis, then it could be time to do something about it. The majority of the time, these insecurities are something that only the individual sees, and it’s a matter of mindset and acceptance. These things can be overcome with therapy.

Treat yourself better
How you treat yourself also impacts your self-worth. If you’re overly critical of your mistakes or don’t allow yourself the kindness that you allow others – it can be hard to see yourself in a positive light. Just the same as others treating you poorly will impact how you see yourself, the way you treat yourself should not be ignored. It’s okay to fail from time to time, and it’s fine to learn slower than others. Everyone is different and has their own strengths. Even if you don’t see your strengths, that doesn’t mean you don’t have any.
