Did you know that the majority of wine purchases are made by women? It would only make sense that the majority of winemakers would be women, but turns out that it is not the case. In fact less than 20 percent US winemakers are female and as such somewhat out of touch with the community that purchases the product at large. Teneral Cellars, California based and headed up by master vintner Jill Osur has set out change that theme. How? By crafting an exceptional, world class line of wines and curated programming that celebrates all that is good, creative, beautiful and supportive about being a community of womxn.
Come meet Teneral Cellars….

Teneral Cellars decided to start from the ground up and decided to source and craft gorgeous wines and scrap the traditional delivery format that is lined with gatekeepers.
What the team behind the brand learned that is that over the centuries the status quo has become stodgy, confusing and slightly antiquated at times and at other times, elitist, pretentious and unfriendly to the untrained or unindoctrinated, Teneral Cellars has put together a fun, direct to consumer collaborative that pairs experience with education and most importantly, learning to drink what you like.
Their introductory program affectionately called The Swarm brings together three of my favorite things. Fun programming, delicious wine and a community of people that share a common goal or vision — in this case, to “sip with a purpose” and to uplift, encourage and inspire women everywhere. Each quarterly sampler package which brings together 3 or 6 wines, early access to limited edition releases, curated programming, flat rate shipping and a 20% discount on all purchases. Each purchase from Teneral Cellars also serves to bring awareness and delivers 10% of proceeds to organizations committed to supporting womxn through equality, equity, and opportunity.
Sip with a Purpose by Uplifting Community
The most current grantee is the National Women’s Law Center in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and in alignment with the creation of the gorgeous limited edition 3 bottle release that celebrates the work of the legendary justice.

About the Collection
In this collection, you’ll find three decadent selections that are good now and will stand the test of time well for special occasions like the rare day at home, alone with the quiet to keep you company. We had the pleasure of tasting and sampling these sippable works of art.
Dissent, 2018 Zinfandel

The Zinfandel is deep, rich and full of deep berry flavors and reminded me of blueberries that had been sitting in the sunshine, grounded by a smooth spice and mellow finish. I enjoyed this one best alone with a good book. It is also really wonderful with my Kung Pao Beef and from my girls’ I heard that it was delightful with Georgina Whelan’s Sesame Noodles.
2019 Supreme Sauvignon Blanc

The Sauvignon Blanc reminded me of a refreshing bright day with a smooth mineral finish and clean taste that lingered on the tongue. I served it with my Passover dinner, and it was delicious just as delicious with the roast lamb as it was with the next day with salty cheese crumbles and olives.
The 2018 Notorious Cabernet Sauvignon

No wonder this Cabernet sold out. So good that I ordered a second batch just to ensure that I had some on hand. Decadent, smooth, delicious and so good with a book and chocolate or as above adding a rich, stone-fruit tenderness to my family’s roast for Sunday dinner. It was positively decadent and wonderful.
Thank you so much to the team at Teneral Cellars for supplying the wine for review and for helping share awareness of this brilliant partnership. We cannot wait to see the next collection and how the Sip with Purpose program continues to develop.
