From fossil digs, live birds, meteorites and coprolites (aka dinosaur poop), to an outdoor beer garden and live music, the two-day Dino Fest will be roaring with fun to appease all ages this holiday weekend
Trying to decide what to do during Labor Day weekend? Head to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science for the inaugural Dino Fest and dig in to all sorts of prehistoric-themed fun Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 1-2). Culminating the “summer of the dinosaur,” Dino Fest will feature a “Back to the Jurassic” augmented reality experience, hands-on fossil digs, live music and a beer garden on the plaza, T. rex sports challenges, trivia games, “paleo talk” lectures, live bird (aka modern-day dinosaur) interactions, face painting, activities and more. Younger guests can become junior paleontologists as they learn all about Arctic dinosaurs, plus all ages can engage with paleontologists Dr. Tony Fiorillo and Dr. Ron Tykoski. For a full schedule of Dino Fest activities, go here.
Take the T. rexcalator up to Level 4 and check out the new Paleo Lab – also debuting this weekend –where Museum paleontologists are busy processing and preparing fossils fresh from the field!
And don’t miss this summer’s 3D films – Flying Monsters 3D, Galapagos 3D: Nature’s Wonderland and Museum Alive 3D – plus extended summer hours and special discounts all ending Labor Day. Through Sept. 3, veterans, active and retired U.S. military personnel, and first responders receive complimentary general admission plus $3 off general admission for up to six family members. In addition, the Community Partners Ticket Program offers $1 general admission and $1 admission to Ultimate Dinosaurs for guests who qualify based on need.
The Perot Museum will stay open until 6 p.m. through Labor Day. NOTE: The Museum will be closed Sept. 4-6 for annual maintenance and will reopen with regular hours Sept. 7.
Dino Fest is free to members and included with general admission for non-members. Select activities and Ultimate Dinosaurs require a surcharge. For more info, go to perotmuseum.org.
