More summer fun: As part of Scholastic’s commitment to getting kids reading all summer, parents and educators can sign up their kids for the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge, a free online reading program that motivates kids to read more books over the summer. Starting, May 9th, and throughout the 18 weeks of summer, kids can log their reading minutes and unlock fun stories from 18 children’s authors. At the end of the summer, the school in each U.S. state, territory and in the District of Columbia that has logged the most reading minutes will be given the title “Best in State” and will be featured in the 2017 Scholastic Book of World Records. Parents can visit the site to find daily reading tips, book lists, and can “ask the expert” to get personalized summer reading recommendations for their kids. The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is available for free at www.scholastic.com/summer.
