My weekend was a blast and I’m glad that not only did I get a lot of writing and reviews for the blog out of the way, but I also got to spend time with my DFW Bloggers on Saturday in a special few times a year event that literally bowled me over with good times and great goodies. It was a night to be had.
The evening started off with some bowling and fun at a Fort Worth Sports bar known as Lucky Strike and ended with a dinner at Brownstone. What makes Lucky Strike such a fantastic venue is that it’s right in the midst of the West 7th Street Development filled with new townhomes and condos along with restaurants and nightlife. Nicole over at Nicoleandkevin.wordpress.com went above and beyond in planning this event for about 20 of us Dallas-Fort Worth area bloggers.
Lucky Strike – Do you feel lucky?
When I started my set, I got a spare on my first bowl. I am a horrible bowler so just being able to hit a spare was fantastic for me. After that it pretty much went downhill but you couldn’t beat the drinks and the atmosphere with my fellow bloggers.
Atmosphere – The Lucky Strike definitely has a great atmosphere for adults 21 and over. The West 7th Street has a reputation for being college drunken frat boy due to the TCU prevalence in the area. I did not get that this past Saturday evening here. Even with a UFC match going on that night I thought the crowd was definitely more mature, nice looking (of course we were there) and mellow with a wonderful sense of fun and good spirit. The waitresses were attentive, the bartenders were quick and getting in and out to bowling was easy and a breeze. Lucky Strike has a 4 Lane Private Bowling Suite, an Outdoor Patio overlooking West 7th, 18
Big Screen TVs, Billiards and ten lanes. They have drink specials throughout the week and entertainment on weekends.
The Bar and Food – Not only do they have a full bar with shot drinks that sound so much, but they also have a great selection of bar food, wings, appetizers, flat bread pizza and more. Their bar was so huge that it had a lot of room to sit down at.
Would this make a great date night? Absolutely! When I started bowling I texted the current man I’m dating that we should go here. It’s also a great party spot as you can rent a private party area for kids and adults.
Not only did the bloggers and I have a great time bowling, we also took an awesome group photo with event highlights by Nicole that you can see here!

The Brownstone Fort Worth Kitchen and Bar
The Brownstone is a unique dining destination also located in the West 7th Street area. I found the décor of this place to be traditional and yet hip with great patio seating that offers a fantastic corner street view for people watching. We had a private dining room in which we started off with some fruity drinks. I had a blood orange mango something or other and it was fruity but didn’t have enough alcohol in it. I sampled some artichoke dip which was also really good. For my entrée I had the ahi – tuna but at first they overcooked it and then what I ended up with was still a little bit overcooked. I did in fact liked the grits that came with the fish. For dessert I sampled a cheesecake dish from Becka over at busybeck.com and it was unbelievable.
If I had to give a recommendation for this place I would say to go for dinner during the week and not on weekends when it’s very busy. I think for us by having a large group it made it difficult to accommodate. Also I would do a drinks and dessert type of date. The atmosphere is nice and once it gets to be about ten o’clock they start pumping in some great top 40 hits.
I can’t thank my fellow bloggers for making this event so wonderful. I met so many great people and had such a wonderful time.
