Would you call your ex-husband to save you….. and your son…. if your life depended on it? What happens when your past, collectively and separately comes back to haunt you? I don’t know, but it seems to be the premise of the new movie, Serenity, premiering nationwide January 25, 2019 and starring Anne Hathaway and Austin native Matthew McConaughey.
Two of my personal favorites in what seems like this year’s Girl on A Train. I’m hoping for suspense, some tension, on-screen chemistry and an intelligent script that is dramatic and full of popcorn-worthy crazy pants action at the same time.
Here’s the Press Blurb:
From the creative mind of Oscar nominee Steven Knight comes a daringly original, sexy, stylized thriller. Baker Dill (Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey) is a fishing boat captain leading tours off a tranquil, tropical enclave called Plymouth Island. His quiet life is shattered, however, when his ex-wife Karen (Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway) tracks him down with a desperate plea for help. She begs Dill to save her – and their young son – from her new, violent husband (Jason Clarke) by taking him out to sea on a fishing excursion, only to throw him to the sharks and leave him for dead. Karen’s appearance thrusts Dill back into a life he’d tried to forget, and as he struggles between right and wrong, his world is plunged into a new reality that may not be all that it seems.
It also stars Diane Lane, Jason Clarke, Djimon Hounsou and Jeremy Strong. With a strong cast and a cool premise, I can’t wait to grab craft cocktail, the butteriest popcorn that they have and watch it on the big screen.
