The written word is my BFF. That being said, it is no surprise that I am an audiobook lover. With as much time that I spend in and out of vehicles and on the road, audiobooks have become a way of life over here. My kids pick theirs and I have my favorites, but we all listen and it’s a perfect time to bond together. Though that doesn’t stop me from having a paperback in tote bag… can’t help it, I want to be prepared for whatever the day brings.

Right now, I am listening to the Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin, and it is just so good. Told from the perspective of Grace Bennett, a young woman of spirit and grace embarking on an adventure in the mere in midst of living in London 1939. She’s not a reader, but the Blitz makes a book believer of her and so far, she is learning the escapist and educational power of a book, the gift of being literate and how life echoes the pages of a book so often.

I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s wonderful. It feels like sanctuary and reminds me of the gift of a bookstore. If you love books that are absorbing, with characters that feel like friends, you are going to like this one.
