Introduction: I need to tell you a little bit about our guest blogger for today Teia Collier. Not only do I consider Teia to be a wonderful writer and influencer but Teia is also a friend and fantastic person overall. Teia newly finds herself a “Single Mom” and so it is comforting to see her among friends here at Dallas Single Mom. I thought she would be the best person to try out Lorna Jane having just had a baby this past December. It definitely motivates me to get back into the health and wellness spirit. I had never heard of Lorna Jane until I got an invitation to try out their activewear. With busy schedules I knew Teia would do a fantastic job representing their style. Their mission is to “Empower every woman to lead her best life through Active Living.”
There is something special about feeling fabulous in what you are wearing. It is an uplifting experience. You carry yourself differently. You revel in the awesomeness that is you. This is the experience that I had a Lorna Jane Activewear at Northpark Center.
As a mom of three, with the latest born in December, my body is different than it once was. Sure it bears testament to years of gynmastics and dance, but after the birth of my third — things are in different places. There is softness where there was firmness. My fI have a bit of jiggle and to be honest most days I find it delightful…. but there are others when I am not so happy. I decided to stay active, feed my body well and have found that I enjoy my body more and am happier in it.
The motto of Lorna Jane is “move. nourish. believe.” which is great for mamas. With over a 160 stores across the planet, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Dallas Northpark store. it is open, bright, cheery and welcoming. I met with Malia and Angelica at the store. Both are moms, sensitive and familiar with the concerns of women and extremely helpful.
At first, I went to try some pieces that caught my eye. I picked a pair of black leggings, a black tank, a black sports bra, a black sparkly sweatshirt and a matching pant. There was a theme to my choices. They were simple, dark and would hide my extra nor to me. Malia saw my selections and offered to choose a few more for me. She chose bright, brilliant colors and creamy, dreamy modern fabrics that were completely different from the ones I had chosen. She was right.
My favorites are the NYC 3/4 length active pant () for versatility, fit and delicious silk-meets activewear fabric. The motivationally printed tees and tanks in a variety of lengths, from layering to crop, are easy to care for, simple to wear with smile inducing messages that are perfect for mom, daughter and for those sulky Mondays when greeting the morning where the being active is the last thing on your mind. The sports bras, particularly the LJ Ultimate with its soft padding, adjustable straps, hook and eye band made it one of my favorites in the line. When you go into the store, be sure to check out the other bras, the Nicole with its architectual straps, the Carey with its mesh sexiness and the Technique bra with its layers and feminine detailing made my personal wish list as well.
Do not miss the compression leggings. Oh-my-mercy — these are seriously wonderful. They hold in and make things look all smooth and fantastic — without having to sacrifice breathing. Compliments, smiles and not just from myself — from random strangers, my mom, my sisters and my kids…. yep, winners!
While you can order online, do not miss the chance to stop into the store for a personal experience. The selection is excellent. There are a variety of styles and textures and feel-good pieces that will remind you how fabulous it feels to be actively living.
