Sci-Tech Discovery Center has brought their ‘mind stretching fun’ to an important and informational free speaker series for families with “Chalk Talk.” The session on Saturday, July 23 concludes the series with a frank talk about concussions beginning at 6 p.m.
Children registered will engage in STEM related, hands-on activities led by the Sci-Tech staff while the parents enjoy an interactive conversation including vital information for all parents, coaches and athletes, led by FOX4’s Sports Director Mike Doocy.
Concussions can occur in any sport or recreational activity at any age and usually do not involve a loss of consciousness. In fact, what used to simply be called “getting your bell rung,” may sometimes actually be a sports-related concussion. It is vital that all coaches, parents and athletes learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of concussions in sports and activity and what to do about it.
This session, presented by Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Frisco and FOX4, will be led by Mark T. Barisa, Ph.D., ABPP-CN American Board of Neuropsychology and Health Psychology.
