Shoe Guide: Tips for Buying Your Kids the Perfect Shoes

Children's Fashion

Buying new shoes for the kids isn’t always the easiest task, and when kids are in a growth spurt, it may feel like you’re constantly at the store buying another new pair. Make shopping trips easier for both of you with these tips for buying your kids the perfect shoes! They’ll need a pair that is comfortable and durable so they can run around while giving their feet the support they need.

Shoe Guide: Tips for Buying Your Kids the Perfect Shoes

Measure Their Foot

It can be hard to keep track of your child’s shoe size, especially during a growth spurt. So, either before or when you get to the store, measure your child’s foot. This ensures they try the correct shoe sizes on. Occasionally, your child may fluctuate between various sizes, so have them walk around in a pair before purchasing anything.

Pro-Tip for Buying Online

Buying shoes online may be quicker and easier, but you still need to know your child’s size. If, for example, you’re looking to buy a cute pair of Western boots for your child, then measure their feet first. Another tip for buying cowboy boots online is to research the various brands since sizing can vary from brand to brand. In knowing this, you lessen the chance of needing to make a return.

Avoid Breaking-In Shoes

Try to steer clear of shoes your child will have to break in. If the footwear isn’t comfortable to begin with, there’s a chance it never will be. And when shoes don’t feel comfortable, your child is less inclined to wear them. Likewise, poor-fitting shoes can cause blisters and other signs of discomfort. Make finding shoes easier by going to shoe stores designed for children’s footwear.

Search for Quality

Although kids grow fast, you should still invest in high-quality footwear to ensure their feet get the necessary cushioning. Three of the most important qualities to look for are:

  • Breathability
  • Durability
  • Flexibility

Considering each of these factors helps you find the right pair because breathability allows for better air circulation, and flexibility makes it easier to run around! The durability ensures the shoe will last, so you’re not out buying a new pair in the same size next month.

Have Fun Together

Shopping together doesn’t have to feel like a chore nor stressful—make it fun! When you have to go shoe shopping, consider making a day trip out of it. Similarly, you could allow your child to pick out a new piece of clothing or two, so they can create new outfits to pair with their shoes. The more fun shoe shopping is, the more likely your child is to enjoy it!
