There’s a lot to offer if you plan on traveling to Galveston. Galveston happens to be a favorite of mine for traveling with families but if you are also looking for a great date night with your partner or hanging out with friends I would also recommend Galveston area. MOODY GARDENS® FACT SHEET AND ATTRACTIONS PROFILES
Rainforest Pyramid: The first built of the three pyramids is a 10-story glass structure that is home to
more than 1,000 species of plants and animals. After a $25 million enhancement in 2011, visitors are able
to experience more rainforest life from around the world, including Africa, Asia and the Americas. Many
of the animals within the pyramid are free-roaming, like the cotton-top tamarins and saki monkeys.
Aquarium Pyramid: The blue pyramid is the largest pyramid on the Moody Gardens property, but also
the largest aquarium in Texas. With 1.5 million gallons of water, the building houses life from four
distinct ocean environments, and the collection in this popular pyramid includes seals, sea lions, sharks,
thousands of fish and more than 90 penguins.
Discovery Museum: Traveling exhibits that explore the world of science are showcased in the pink
Discovery Pyramid. Ice Age will be on display through May 10, 2015, featuring 10 life-sized prehistoric
animatronic mammals and other fascinating animals seen in this time period. SPEED: Science in Motion
will then be featured from May 23, 2014 through January 10, 2016
MG 3D Theater: The giant 3D screen in this theater is the biggest in Texas that measures 60 by 80 feet.
In November 2014, the theater unveiled the world’s first state-of-the-art Giant Screen 6P Laser Projector.
Audiences will now see films featured on a new 60 by 80 foot white screen nearly three and a half times
brighter than standard theaters, with vibrant colors and new 3D glasses technology. Along with the
theater’s top-of-the-line surround sound system, this new laser projection further distinguishes the MG
3D Theater as one of the premier cinema venues. Most of the films highlight the wonders of nature and
history, as well as the importance of conservation.
4D Special FX Theater: The theater and seating in this special attraction adds a whole new dimension to
life. High-definition 3D projection combines with seat sensors, leg ticklers, wind, snow, scent and water
splashes to engage all the senses.
Colonel Paddlewheel Boat: The Colonel is a charming 675-passenger, 1800s-style paddlewheel boat that
takes guests on hour-long cruises around Offatts Bayou.
Palm Beach: As the only white-sands beach in Galveston, Palm Beach has become a huge attraction
during the summer months. Moody Gardens spent $5 million in 2011 to add a lazy river, wave pool and
water slides to the seaside adventure park, which also includes a splash pad, spray arches and a sand
Sky Trail® Explorer Ropes Course: Challenge your agility, balance and strength as you encounter the
five-tier Ropes Course, the newest permanent attraction that opened in May 2014. Ranging from Criss-
Cross Tight Ropes to Burma Buckets, the 81-foot Ropes Course is filled with 48 fascinating obstacles

Moody Gardens Zip Line: Thrill seekers can take adventure to a whole new level at the Moody Gardens
Zip Line which opened in May 2014. Snap into the harness, step to the edge of the zip line platform and
glide over Palm Beach and the Lazy River 60 feet in the air for a bird’s eye view of the Moody Gardens
Pyramids and tropical gardens.
Festival of Lights: Every November and December, Moody Gardens features the largest holiday lighting
display on the Gulf Coast. More than one million lights in over 100 animated displays illuminate a mile-

MOODY GARDENS BECOMES THE COOLEST HOLIDAY DESTINATION IN THE SOUTHWEST WITH NEW ICE SCULPTURES EVENT FEATURING SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS
GALVESTON, Texas – Moody Gardens will transform into the premier holiday destination with the debut of ICE LAND: Ice Sculptures with SpongeBob SquarePants. Being the only holiday ice exhibition on the Gulf Coast, this vast and amazing display of magnificent ice creations adds a frosty new addition to the Festival of Lights and other holiday attractions this year. A skilled team of 31 professional ice carvers from Harbin, China, took 900 tons of ice and transformed it into majestic marvels ranging from holiday-themed sculptures to a wide range of scenes featuring the beloved underwater characters from SpongeBob SquarePants.
Chilled and held at a temperature of nine degrees, you can witness these works of art within a 28,000 sq. ft. insulated tent structure located on the property. This holiday treat for the whole family will be open through January 4 as Galveston makes its holiday transition into a Winter Wonder Island.
“We are very excited to bring such a unique experience to south Texas,” said John Zendt, Moody Gardens President and CEO, who added that carving giant ice sculpture scenes and holding them at nine degrees outside on a sub-tropical island is a significant logistical challenge. “Our guests are in for a special surprise. There is no other venue in the Southwest that offers such a diverse range of activities and amenities for a complete holiday experience.”
