Want Better Skin, Start with These Basics

Lifestyle· Single Mom Life· Style

When you’re a mother, the stress can get you. The kids want fast-food, and you give in to the French fries. You aren’t getting enough sleep. Some things in life get pushed aside as you take care of your children, work, and try your best to have a life outside of the family. One thing that it’s easy to neglect is your skin. Every woman wants good skin, but it is so often a coordinated effort. Depending on your skin type, time of year, and climate, when you are trying to improve the look and feel of your skin, you should start with these five skin care basics.

Get Enough Sleep

One area of life that could be the most important is sleep. If you don’t get enough or good sleep, your body and mind will suffer. You won’t be at your peak performance. You will eat more to supplement. You will feel more anxious, stressed, and sad. Your skin is affected significantly by the sleep you get. When you’re trying to cultivate better skin, you should do your best to sleep well and enough at night. Your whole life will improve, and when you are looking for ways to clear up your skin you should start by getting enough rest.

Watch What You Eat

Our diets don’t just impact our weight and overall health. What we eat influences our skin too. If you are eating greasy and fatty foods, it will show in your skin. Cut down on the sugar too. When you want clearer and cleaner skin, you should eat cleaner. It isn’t always easy, especially when you don’t have much time and need to feed yourself and your children, but if you do your best to eat well and cut down on bad foods, your skin will show the results. It may sound trite, but we really are what we eat. When you want to change your skin, change your diet.

Exercise More Frequently

Along with diet, exercise is crucial. Not only is it important for your overall health, but you also don’t just lose weight from exercise. You feel better mentally and physically. With the ability to feel good, you will look good too. Your skin will get clearer, softer, and more supple when you are exercising frequently. You will be burning fat and getting rid of toxins from eating and drinking too much. Your skin will also be naturally moisturized by sweat. Working out is always good for you, but if you want to foster better skin it’s a must.

Drink Less Alcohol

Alcohol is an inflammatory substance. It is bad for your body in many ways, but it is also quite bad for your skin. We’ve all seen someone who is bloated and red because they drink too much. Your body will show it. So, if you are worried about your skin, you should cut down on how much you are drinking. Not only will mitigating your alcohol intake help because it’s bad for you, but you will also eat better, sleep better, and have more energy to exercise.

See a Professional, Use the Products

Of course, you can’t get better guidance than going to a dermatologist. They will break down your skin type, ask you questions about your daily habits, and provide the right products for you to use. They might suggest acne wash for oily or dry skin, blackhead scrub, or collagen serum. You will have a better sense of what you need to do to better your skin. With the right guidance and products, you will be able to create a comprehensive skin care regimen that works for you.

Skin care isn’t always easy, but there are many things you can do to cultivate clearer, softer, and more supple skin. Like most things in life, it starts with the basics. Overall health has the largest impact on your skin. When you are doing your part with the basics, you can see a professional dermatologist and find the right products for your skin. So, with all of this in mind, what do you need to do to improve your skin? There are simple solutions you can use together to accomplish more beautiful skin.
