I recently came across a video that is equal parts heartbreaking and heartwarming. It captures the pure, unfiltered emotion of a one-year-old boy named Nash who is absolutely devastated whenever his father leaves for work.
The boy’s mother, Kyli Wilson, shared the footage on TikTok, where it quickly went viral. In the clip, you can see little Nash shedding “crocodile tears” and looking inconsolable just minutes after his dad, Rusty, walks out the door. Kyli explained to Newsweek that this emotional scene plays out almost every morning in their home.

I found it particularly moving how Nash waits right by the door, hoping his favorite person will walk back in. Even though he is too young to say many words, Kyli notes that “Dada” is a constant topic throughout the day. It is clear that the toddler spends hours missing him and thinking about him.
Kyli admits that while it is sad to watch her son cry, she also sees the beauty in their connection. She revealed that she grew up without a father herself, so witnessing this intense bond between her husband and son is deeply healing for her. She jokes that she becomes “irrelevant” the moment Rusty gets home, but she doesn’t mind one bit.
The best part of their day is undoubtedly the reunion. When Rusty finally returns, Nash immediately runs into his arms. The devoted dad scoops him up and reportedly carries him around on his hip for the rest of the evening, refusing to put him down.
