What does Independence Day really mean to you? Aside from the fireworks, the BBQ and the mall sales; Independence Day or the 4th of July is an annual tradition dating back to the 18th century. According to History.com, “On July 2nd, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later its delegates adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 until the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with typical festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues.” This day became an official federal holiday in 1941.
For me personally, Independence Day is a way to teach the kids about our American History and to recite the Star Spangled Banner. Our friends at Tree Classics have provided Dallas Single Mom with a complimentary Brentwood Glistening White Pine to come up with creative ways to decorate and celebrate the 4th of July holiday with family and friends. Tree Classics has been providing quality artificial trees for the last 40 years and have been recognized by the Chicago Tribune as a Top Shelf Brand for trees.
Brentwood Glistening White Pine from Tree Classics
Picture a cascade of snow-covered evergreens in East London giving you the sentiment of a White Christmas. In this case once the bare white tree went up the kids eyes lit up and they were excited to help me decorate and turn it on. Already illuminated and pre-lit with clear UL lights it makes decorating a breeze. The pre-lit models include:
- A convenient on/off foot switch
- Worry-Free™ UL®-approved indoor lights
- Professionally strung lights to hide wires
- If a bulb burns out, the rest of the lights stay lit
- Extra bulbs and fuses included
My 5 year old noticed one of the lights were broken and to my relief the rest of the lights stayed on. Other pre-lit trees I have purchased would frustrate me because if one light went out, the others would go out and I didn’t have the time to check each and every bulb. The sparkling clear lights weave in and out of the tree’s sturdy, white boughs. Tree Classics have a Real Feel™, classic PVC, and pine needles to replicate the feel, color, and texture of a real pine tree. Tree Classics has an array of White Christmas Trees to help your decorating pop.
The tree I received was 7 1/2 foot tall and and 54 inches wide – much wider than the tree I already have with approximately 700 lights and 1,470 branch tips. The branches are hinged and full making it a delight to “fluff.” Decorating it was a breeze as most of the items I applied to the tree I just had to bend into place on the branches.
Dallas Single Mom 4th of July White Pine Tree
For this tree I managed to gather many of my ornaments and accessories at discount stores, party supply stores and my party supply stash at home. There is a wholesale party supply store called Rebecca’s down the street from me and I bought a dozen plastic flags that were 4 x 6 inches for $1.60 per dozen. I also bought red and blue curling ribbon normally used for balloons to create the curls that I draped over the tree like tinsel. I bought cut out red and blue stars of varying sizes to cascade all over the tree. For the tree topper I used a red party supply fan that I already owned and placed a large patriotic ribbon to the front. I then placed a couple of these same patriotic ribbons throughout the tree. At the bottom, the tree skirt is a simple red plastic table cover you can get from a party supply store or at Walmart.
Out of the Box Tree
Taking it out of the box and setting it up was very easy. This tree came in three parts. There is a metal base by which you place the first section. The second section goes in the center and this section contains the foot pedal that turns the lights on and off. This section also contains the plugs where the other light sections connect to light up the entire tree.
Decorating the Fireworks and Stars Tree for 4th of July
- Place the patriotic ribbon to the front of a red party fan (16 inches or more in diameter and place as a tree topper on the tree
- With curling ribbon use a scissors to curl the ribbon into curly cues and place around the tree
- Randomly place small flags, stars and patriotic ribbons throughout the tree
Price – Range in price from $359.99 to $599.00
